Lake Como Tickets: Every Official Price in One Place

The Orrido di Bellano charges $9.32 (€8) at the gate and $5.83 (€5) to anyone showing a train ticket or a Navigazione Laghi boat ticket. Since Bellano is on both the Milan–Lecco–Tirano railway and the Como–Colico boat line, essentially every visitor arriving without a car qualifies. It is a 27 per cent cut on the price and it needs no card, no membership and no booking.

Touring Club members pay $6.99 (€6) on the same ticket, and children 6 to 14 pay $5.83 (€5) regardless.

Villa Carlotta operates a second version of the same idea and refuses to price it: the villa honours a same-day ASF bus or Trenord train ticket to Villa Carlotta at the desk, alongside the Lombardy museum subscription, Extra Formula, FAI, ICOM, CGIL, Touring, Viviparchi and Bennet cards, and publishes no figure for any of them. Ask at the counter with the ticket in hand and the answer is whatever the desk says that day. Villa Monastero gives 50 per cent off to Viandante via Lago holders, and Villa del Balbianello drops to $5.83 (€5) for FAI members, Tremezzina residents and a disabled visitor with a companion, which is the largest single reduction published on the lake.

Every combination on the lake, priced

Villa Monastero runs the only villa-to-villa combinations, and the good one cannot be bought online at all: with the neighbouring Villa Cipressi garden in Varenna it is $31.50 (€27) for garden and house museum or $29.10 (€25) for the two gardens, sold at the desk only and only on days Villa Cipressi's garden is open. Its combination with the Monastero del Lavello at Calolziocorte is $21.00 (€18) and stays valid fifteen days, which it needs to, because the two sites are 25 km apart.

Where the arithmetic actually bites

The Orrido di Bellano is the extreme case: six separate published ladders for one gorge, and the price of the same two sites changes by 50 per cent depending on the day of the week and whether it is August. Weekday visits outside August are materially cheaper, which is a rule worth planning around rather than discovering at the window. The island's arithmetic runs the other way: the island alone is $4.66 (€4) from a card-only machine on the island itself, and adding the Antiquarium museum on the mainland costs $2.33 more, so the pair at $6.99 (€6) is the sensible buy if you are landing at all.

Family rates exist on both, at $17.48 (€15) for two adults and two children on the island pair and $11.65 (€10) on the island alone.

The Greenway del Lago is a free waymarked route of 11.2 km in seven stages with a stated walking time of three and a half hours. The Orrido di Nesso has free access, no ticket and no published hours, seen from Piazza Castello or the Ponte della Civera. The park at Villa Olmo is free and open while the villa behind it is closed for restoration.

The Sacro Monte di Ossuccio publishes no admission price for its fourteen chapels and roughly 230 statues, inscribed by UNESCO in 2003. Como cathedral is free to enter for prayer and runs a free ticketless route through the minor naves. And Villa Erba opens on its "Le 4 Stagioni" days with free entry and compulsory booking.

• Free for under-5s or under-6s: Balbianello, Carlotta, the cathedral, the Tempio Voltiano, Isola Comacina and the Castello di Vezio.
• Free for under-11s at Villa Melzi and under-14s at Villa Monastero, which is the largest family saving published on the lake.
• Free at the Tempio Voltiano and the other civic museums on International Museum Day, 18 May, on the National Day of Families in Museums in October, and on Como's patronal feast, 31 August.
• Free for a disabled visitor and a companion at Balbianello, Carlotta, Monastero, Melzi, Isola Comacina and the cathedral, though Balbianello still issues a ticket for both.
• Free for residents: of Tremezzina and Griante at Villa Carlotta, of Bellagio at Villa Serbelloni, of Varenna and Perledo at the Castello di Vezio, of Bellano at the Orrido.

One free thing worth stating plainly because it is so often sold as paid: entering Como's cathedral costs nothing if you are there to pray, and the minor naves carry a free route with no ticket for everybody else. The $6.99 (€6) buys the transept, the wooden choir and the sacristies. Free things to do collects the rest.

The FAI sells Villa del Balbianello through ticket.fondoambiente.it with booking through villadelbalbianello.it. Villa Carlotta uses Ticketlandia. Villa Monastero uses CoopCulture, which also answers the phone for it on +39 0341 18.31.100.

The Castello di Vezio uses Liveticket. The Orrido di Bellano uses Midaticket. Como's cathedral and the Tempio Voltiano share one system, museicomo.vivaticket.it, which is why they share a price ladder.

Villa Serbelloni is sold only through the Promobellagio portal at bellagiolakecomo.com, and the operator says so explicitly.

• Villa Melzi sells at the garden entrance on the day of your visit and publishes no online channel at all.
• Isola Comacina sells at the Antiquarium desk on the mainland, or from an automatic machine on the island that takes cards only and no cash.
• The Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi combined ticket is explicitly not purchasable online.
• Como cathedral's online system asks for a date and then states that access is not tied to it, so an online purchase there buys a queue-free desk, not a slot.
• The funicular sells singles, returns and carnets with no time slot and no bookable timetable, on ATM's published tariff.

For the boats, the operator sells on its own site and publishes a route-by-route fare lookup with a vehicle option. The one part of Navigazione Lago di Como's service that is genuinely reserved on a named run is the fast service, which has its own booking channel and an SR reservations area in the customer account. Ordinary boat and car-ferry tickets are valid for the day of issue rather than for a departure. The ferry tickets page sets out the day passes and the ferry page the fare bands.

You miss a boat

An ordinary boat ticket is valid for the whole day of issue, so a later ordinary run will take you. A fast-service ticket and its supplement are valid only that day and allow no intermediate stops, and the operator publishes no missed-departure clause of any kind. A full refund can be claimed at the issuing ticket office only if the departure was delayed by at least 60 minutes or cancelled, if the authorities barred you from travelling, if there was no room, or if you give up the trip voluntarily within 30 minutes of the time printed on the ticket.

A voluntary cancellation is charged a penalty of up to €3.00 per traveller, and a missing punch mark is not accepted as proof that a ticket went unused. Lost or stolen tickets are never replaced.

You arrive late at a villa

Villa del Balbianello has the most misunderstood rule on the lake: the time you select when you book is the time you are allowed onto the property, not the time your guided tour begins. The tour slot is assigned at the ticket office when the ticket is validated, and the villa states the wait may reach 60 minutes. Villa Monastero's ticket is binding on its date but not on a time, allows one admission and no re-entry, and is non-refundable and cannot be re-dated; the Provincia di Lecco refunds only if the villa itself is forced to close.

Last entry is 30 minutes before closing there, and 20 minutes before at the Castello di Vezio and the Orrido di Bellano.

The place is shut when you get there

Villa Carlotta will let you in on a closed day if you write to segreteria@villacarlotta.it and arrange it first, which is unusual and worth knowing. The Castello di Vezio closes in rain in November and opens only on fair-weather weekends and holidays from December to February, so a forecast can end that plan without notice. Como cathedral suspends tourist visits on every Sunday and holy day of obligation and on a published list of 2026 dates.

Isola Comacina closes entirely from November to April, and even in season its restaurant, bar and toilets are closed for an indefinite period.

You bought from the wrong shop

There is no cross-honouring here. A Ticketlandia ticket does not work at the Orrido, a CoopCulture ticket does not work at Villa Melzi, and the Villa Monastero combined ticket bought online is simply not the Villa Cipressi one, which is a desk purchase. The only shared system is museicomo.vivaticket.it, which covers Como cathedral, the Tempio Voltiano and the other civic museums.

When in doubt buy at the gate: nine of the eleven attractions above sell at the door at the same price as online.
