Lake Como Map: Every Town, Villa, Walk and Landing Stage

Geranium, villas and gardens. Seven houses and gardens where somebody sells a ticket or, in two cases, deliberately does not. The price on the pin is the adult fare at that gate. Two of the seven are on the map precisely because the answer is no: Villa Erba is a congress centre with no public hours and no admission ticket, and Villa d'Este is a hotel that a non-guest reaches only through a restaurant reservation.

Printing that on the pin saves the wasted crossing.

Lake blue, towns. The twelve comuni and frazioni this guide covers, each with the boat fare that reaches it rather than a door price, because a town has no door. The pin note carries the population and the local rule that changes a visit: three driving-restricted zones at Bellagio, a permanent 24-hour zone at Varenna, and no published zone at all in Tremezzina, the shore Villa Carlotta and Villa del Balbianello stand on.

Laurel, free to enter. Four pins that cost nothing, or nothing for part of them. Orrido di Nesso has no ticket and no hours of any kind, the Sacro Monte di Ossuccio is free to walk up, and the park of Villa Olmo is open while the villa behind it stays closed for restoration with no reopening date published. Como Cathedral is the mixed case and is worth stating precisely: a free ticketless route runs through the minor naves, and the full tourist route is $6.99 (€6).

Slate, walks and climbs. Four routes rather than doors. The Greenway del Lago di Como is the long one at 11.2 kilometres, and the other three are short and steep: the climb to Castello di Vezio above Varenna, the walkways inside the Orrido di Bellano, and the funicular that does the climbing to Brunate for you in seven minutes.

Bronze, other landing stages. Ten more ports from the operator's own list, pinned because the commonest planning mistake here is assuming the boat stops where you want it to. It stops at Torno, Moltrasio, Argegno, Sala Comacina, Isola Comacina, Cadenabbia, Lierna, Dervio, Gravedona and Domaso. It does not stop at Laglio.

The lake runs south from Colico and splits at Bellagio into a western branch that ends at Como and an eastern one that ends at Lecco. That fork is why the centre of the map is worth more than the ends of it: four of the best known places on the lake stand within fifteen minutes of one another by water and an hour or more apart by road, because the road has to go round the point.

Every one of the five crossings above is band 3, which is $6.41 (€5.50) one way as an adult on the ordinary boat, or $20.40 (€17.50) for a day pass at that band that lets you ride the triangle all day. That single number is the cheapest useful thing on this page: it turns four towns into one afternoon.

The two ends, and what they are for

The Como end is where the trains and the airport buses arrive and where the funicular climbs to Brunate. Lecco sits on its own branch with its own boat line and the cheapest tourist tax of the big names, which is the argument the towns hub makes for it.

The battello is the ordinary ship: slow, calls almost everywhere in the port list, and it is the fare every band in the table below refers to. The servizio rapido is the hydrofoil and catamaran, and it is not a separate ticket but the same fare plus a fixed supplement that takes no reduction of any kind. The traghetto is the car ferry, and it runs between four stops only, Bellagio, Cadenabbia, Varenna and Menaggio.

A pin on this map tells you a boat calls there; it cannot tell you which of the three, because the operator publishes no per-pier service-type list and the timetable grids mix ordinary and fast runs in one column.

Three rules attached to those numbers are worth carrying to the pier. A ticket is valid on the day of issue only. Buying on board costs €1.00 more wherever the departure pier has an open ticket office.

And a fast-service ticket allows no intermediate stops, so the supplement buys speed and takes away the thing most people came for, which is getting off somewhere on the way. - No pin at Laglio. A text search of both official 2026 timetables, summer and autumn, returns nothing for Laglio while its neighbours Moltrasio and Brienno are both listed. The village that carries most of the lake's celebrity search volume is reached by road or the C110 bus and by no scheduled boat at all. It stands at 689 metres on the ridge, so the pin sits on the town and the transport pin sits on the funicular's lower station in Como.

(ISTAT altitude of the built-up centre at 31 December 2021) - No car-ferry ramp pins. Bellagio and Varenna each have a vehicle ramp separate from the passenger imbarcadero, and the operator publishes no address or coordinate for either, so the map does not guess at one. (Navigazione Lago di Como port pages) - No walking times between pins. Not one villa on this lake publishes a walking time from its own pier except Villa Carlotta, which states 400 metres. Rather than invent eleven more, this page prints the one that exists.

(villacarlotta.it) - No bus numbers in the pin notes beyond C110 and C130. The operator renumbered to three digits, and two official pages disagree about the western-shore line, one calling it C110 and one C10. The ASF line index would not load, so this guide prints C110 and says the conflict is unresolved. (villacarlotta.it and greenwaylagodicomo.com)

Villa Carlotta runs its main season from 20 March to 18 October, extends to 8 November, then opens on eight scattered autumn and winter days ending 8 December, and publishes no 2027 reopening date. Villa del Balbianello does not have a season at all in the ordinary sense: it publishes a calendar of named dates running to 6 January 2027, closed Mondays and Wednesdays in between. Isola Comacina and its Antiquarium open from May to the end of October and not otherwise.

Three pins publish no season anywhere. Villa Melzi prints only that it opens daily from 10:00 to 19:00, with no first or last day of the year stated, which means every third-party opening date you will read for it is unsourced. Villa Serbelloni had its season start printed as undetermined on its own operator page when this was read, in the middle of the season. And Orrido di Bellano publishes an hours table that runs open-ended from 25 October with no end date. Against that, Villa Monastero is open all twelve months, weekends only in January, and is the safest villa pin on the map out of season.
