Villa Carlotta Tickets 2026: Prices, Hours and the Desk Discounts

Villa Carlotta publishes one price list and applies it to both channels. There is no online discount and no advance-purchase saving, and the villa states no booking requirement for individuals at all: tickets are sold through Ticketlandia and at the ticket office, and entry is not timed. What buying ahead saves you is a queue on an April Saturday, which is a real thing on the azalea weekends and not much of a thing in October.

The platform layer sits on top at almost exactly the same number. The museum and garden entry card was listed at $20.36 against a gate price of $20.40 at the rate this site uses, a difference of four cents. What that card actually buys is free cancellation up to 24 hours before, which has value if your date is soft. What it costs you is every desk discount below, none of which can be applied to a ticket bought elsewhere.

So which would we buy

If you hold one of the membership cards the ticket office accepts, or you are arriving by ASF bus or Trenord train, buy at the desk and hand the ticket over. If your date is firm and you hold nothing, either channel is the same money and the official shop is the cleaner route. If your date might move, take the platform card for the cancellation.

The villa accepts a discount at the ticket office for holders of the Lombardy and Valle d'Aosta museum subscription or Extra Formula, FAI, ICOM, CGIL, Touring Club, Viviparchi and Bennet cards. Then comes the one that is genuinely unusual: a same-day ASF or Trenord ticket to Villa Carlotta is itself a discount at the desk. Arriving on the C110 bus or on a Trenord train and keeping the ticket earns a reduction on the entry, which is a straightforward reward for not driving.

None of that survives a purchase made anywhere else. A card bought on a platform is a ticket already priced, and the desk has nothing left to reduce. That is the whole practical argument for the official window at this particular villa, and it is stronger here than at almost any other gate on the lake, where the reductions are limited to age bands that a platform can also apply.

What the villa does not publish about the discounts

It names the cards and it does not print the reduced figure each one earns. So the honest position is that the reduction exists and its size is not stated, which is worth knowing before you build a budget on it. Bring the card, expect a reduction, and treat the adult fare as the number in your plan until the window tells you otherwise.

The main season is the second row below and it is the one nearly every visitor uses. The other three are worth reading because they are where the mistakes happen: a February visit is possible on eleven specific days and impossible on the rest, and the winter special days are eight dates that stop on 8 December.

Two rules hide inside that grid. The last ticket goes on sale a full hour before the gates close in the main season, so a 18:15 arrival buys nothing. And the museum shuts thirty minutes before the garden, which means a late-afternoon arrival is a garden visit whether you planned one or not.

If the house is the point of the trip, be there before 17:00.

And the days that are not on the list

On a closed day the villa states that it can still be visited by reservation, by writing to segreteria@villacarlotta.it. That is a genuine route in for a group or a trip built around a single date, and it is not a walk-up. No 2027 reopening date is published: the calendar simply stops on 8 December 2026, in the same way Villa del Balbianello's stops on 6 January 2027. Best time to visit lays the closures over the climate.

Some scheduled lines call directly at the Tremezzo to Villa Carlotta landing stage, 400 metres from the entrance, and from Como the villa states about 45 minutes of navigation. That single figure is worth more than a paragraph of advice, because on this shore the alternative arrivals all involve a walk of unstated length.

One caution on that table is ours rather than the villa's. Its own page describes the Cadenabbia landing stage with the words opening planned for July 2026, written in the future tense on a page read in September 2026. Before you route a day through Cadenabbia, check the operator's current timetable rather than the villa's description of it, because a five-minute walk from a pier that is not calling is a wasted crossing. What is within reach once you are here

The villa publishes its own neighbour distances, which is unusual and useful: Villa Melzi in Bellagio is about ten minutes away by ferry, Villa del Balbianello is a ten-minute car or bus journey or a half-hour walk along the Greenway, and the Sacro Monte di Ossuccio is a two-kilometre walk. That makes a Carlotta morning and a Balbianello afternoon a genuinely short day, as long as the Balbianello booking is already made.

Villa del Balbianello requires a booked date and closes on Mondays and Wednesdays. Villa Carlotta requires nothing and opens every day of its own season. So the routing writes itself: book Balbianello first for a Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and put Carlotta on whichever half of that day is left, or on the Monday when the other is shut.

Both are twenty minutes apart by bus or a half-hour walk along the Greenway.

If you are coming across from the eastern shore, the crossings are band 3 at $6.41 (€5.50) one way, or $20.40 (€17.50) for a day pass at that band, which happens to be exactly the price of this ticket.
